John Pickup was engaged by the Trust to lead the technical evaluation of the preferred bidders, and post preferred bidder appointment operated as the both the tenants representative and as our design advisor on a number of emerging projects.
From initial appointment John demonstrated a detailed understanding not only of the technical elements required, but an acute comprehension of the needs of a variety of building users. He was able to understand the philosophy of particular projects, user and patient perspective and ensure this was translated into delivery. The technical evaluation of the preferred bidders was a critical part of the overall selection process. Beyond the initial schemes his input was critical in ensuring that we thought beyond the design phase into commissioning and the operational phases of each project.
John’s strategic support was invaluable to both myself and immediate team in ensuring that the Trust achieved financial close on a number of schemes. This often went beyond purely technical support and covered broader issues relating to the partnering arrangement in which the Trust had engaged; this support was not only welcomed but actively sought.
In relation to emerging projects John was able to support the Trust in developing and refining our brief, ensuring that it was fit for purpose.
